July Workshop Series
Healthy Futures in a Changing Climate
Strengthening community and healthcare resilience
AGNES WATER | YEPPOON | ROCKHAMPTON | BUNDABERG | HERVEY BAY
As our climate changes and extreme weather events like floods, cyclones, bushfires and heatwaves become more frequent, strong local support systems are essential. Community and primary healthcare play a vital role in keeping people healthy and well.
In July 2025, we held collaborative, interactive sessions, where we explored what’s needed to strengthen health and wellbeing and how we can work together to build resilience for the challenges ahead.
Participants gained fresh insights, practical tools and a clear understanding of how ideas and efforts can shape future strategies for health, inclusion and climate resilience in their communities.
Together, we:
- Shared what we’d learned from community input so far, and explore what helps communities and local health services stay strong, adapt and thrive.
- Drew on local evidence and lived experience to deepen our understanding of local resilience.
- Stepped into a future scenario set in 2035 to imagine what we want health and wellbeing to look and feel like.
- Created a shared vision of a preferred future and identify practical ways to strengthen the role of community and primary healthcare in building resilience.
